New Summer Program Impacting Roaring Fork Education

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo.- A new Roaring Fork Academic program is making a significant impact on the area's education system.

According to the Aspen Times, the program, part of Summer Advantage USA, served 410 kindergarten through third grade students at Basalt, Sopris and Glenwood Springs attended the free five week program.

The program included breakfast, lunch, weekly speakers and field trips. Mornings were spent reading, writing and studying math, with afternoons for learning based projects

Based on numbers from the Iowa Test of Basic Skills, results show a significant increase in reading and math skills gained over the five week period.

Parent and scholar engagement and teacher satisfaction ranked high.
