New Software to Help Parents Apply for Free/Reduced Lunch Benefits

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - School District 51 receives more than 8,000 applications for meal benefits each year and with the help of new software, they've now made it easier than ever for parents to register their students.
School officials say a new website has made it more convenient for parents to file their applications.
It offers step by step instructions to make sure all information is received, so each student's meal benefits will be ready before the school year begins.
"Typical time takes about 7-10 minutes for the parent to complete and it does advise them on the home page what type of information they need to have ahead of time to help expedite that process," said Dan Sharp with District 51 Nutrition Services.
Parents can access the online application by visiting www.Mesa.K12.co.us or at www.ApplyForLunch.com.
If you have any questions you can call the District 51 Food Service Department at 970-254-5181.
Paper applications are still available.
