New Local and State Health Reports Released
KREX News Room
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- A recent health report released by Governor John Hickenlooper plans to make Colorado the healthiest state.
Hickenlooper's plan will create a comprehensive system to address a range of health needs state-wide.
This report*also aligns with Mesa County Health Department's new plan, that addresses issues right here in our county.
The report is an improvement plan, which is made on a three-year basis to help understand the status of the area's health.
“There are all kinds of things that we keep getting worse and worse on,” said Jeff Kuhr, executive director for Mesa County Health Department. “So we need to make a more concerning effort. That’s where I think these plans for both the local and state agencies are kind of drawing the line of how we go moving forward, and make a better effort to address this.”
The county’s health plan will focus on five areas that directly impact local residents:
-Emotional and Social Wellbeing
-Access to Health Care
-Building a Sense of Community
Hickenlooper’s plan, which reflects input from healthcare providers, advocates and lawmakers, will focus on four areas that will help the overall health of the state:
-Promote Prevention & Wellness
-Expand Coverage, Access & Capacity
-Improve Health System Integration & Quality
-Enhance Value & Strengthening Sustainability
