Opening Date Set for New Grand Junction Police Station

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- The new Grand Junction Police Department will open its doors to the public on Saturday, August 18.

The public can access the lobby of the new building by entering the parking lot on Ute Avenue at 6th Street.

There are several new features in the lobby that officials hope will be more efficient for the public.

People can now go to specific windows to request copies of records or reports, wanting to file a police report or speak with an officer.

The new lobby will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The new building also features a separate entrance, immediately to the west of the main lobby doors, for sex offenders needing to register with the agency.

Sex offender entrance hours run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Sex offender new registrations, re-registrations, annual registrations and de-registrations are by appointment only. Contact Lorie Sanchez at 970-549-5234 to schedule an appointment.
