Crews Respond to 2 Fires in Rio Blanco County

RIO BLANCO COUNTY, Colo.- Firefighters responded to two new wildfires that started up near Meeker Thursday.

The Bear Fire is 17 miles southwest of Meeker in Rio Blanco County. At last report, it was six acres and very close to some oil and gas facilities.

Officials say the Bear Fire was started by lighting.

Crews are also battling another blaze called the Powell Fire. It is located eight miles northwest of Meeker and is roughly 150 acres.

The cause of the Powell Fire has not been determined.
