Suspect in Montana School Teacher Murder Case Reveals Gory Details

by Cori Coffin

Richland County, MT - Prosecutors disclosed the first details of what they believe happened between a missing Montana school teacher, and two Parachute men arrested for her disappearance. Investigators believe 43-year-old Sherry Arnold was choked to death, and buried after a "crack-fueled and seemingly-random abduction," as stated in the affidavit.

The report, filed February 17th, Friday by Richland County prosecutors, is based largely on the alleged confession of 22-year-old Michael Spell of Parachute. Spell is a suspect in the case, who told FBI investigators that he felt guilty after helping bury Arnold's body on a farmstead, about 45 miles from where she was abducted.

When this story first broke; Spells' brother told NewsChannel 5 that his brother confessed he was was forced into crimes, by 47-year-old Lester Waters, also of Parachute.

Spell and Waters were arrested in January for the school teacher's disappearance and are being held on $2.5 million bail each. They are also scheduled to appear in court February 28th on charges of aggravated kidnapping.

A Montana judge advised Spell and Waters that they could face the death penalty if convicted.
