New Baby Panda to Make Its Debut

by KREX News Room

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The San Diego Zoo is home to a very successful breeding program for endangered pandas and the newest giant panda cub joined their family in July, although he won't go on public display until January 10.

CBS's Bill Whitaker was the first person allowed with a camera inside the panda's enclosure.

Baby panda Xiao Liwu is 18 pounds at almost six months old.

The San Diego panda breeding program has been active for decades and in recent years has become the most successful breeding program outside of China.
