CASTLE ROCK, Colo.- Five members of a Denver Police lieutenant's family are recovering Friday night after a natural gas explosion leveled their home in Castle Rock.

Neighbors reported smelling gas Friday morning before the explosion, which also damaged two other houses.

A neighbor says the blast sounded like a plane crashing into the house.

Officials at Swedish Medical Center say the family of Lt. Jimmy Martinez was on the second floor of the home when the incident happened.

Lisa Martinez and four of her children, ages 4 to 11, are all in good condition.

Lt. Martinez and a teenage son weren't home when the explosion happened.

This was not a well explosion but a service explosion A. The Gas had a detectable odor. who's to say it wasn't the property owners fault for a faulty hook up

Remember Natural Gas is clean, safe, and environmentally friendly. Just because it's makes one hell of a bomb you shouldn't be worried, just don't smoke, BBQ or build that winter fire! Glad know one was hurt.
