National Anthem Tryouts Bring Out The Competition

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.-Many local singers attended a tryout Monday night, singing the National Anthem in hopes of performing at future Grand Junction Rockies Games, Junior College World Series Games and at Colorado Mesa University gatherings.

Around 20 people tried out singing in-front of three judges, who are with the Grand Junction Baseball Committee.

Judges say they're looking for composure, and a few good acapela voices.

They say there is no age limit or talent requirement.

"It'd just be really exciting. Since I've lived in Grand Junction for the last three years, I haven't really done a whole lot with singing. It used to be something I enjoyed doing quite a bit, so it'd just be something really fun to do," said Karli Supino.

"I've been singing for a while, and I did musicals when I was in third grade, so all along I've been singing and preparing," said Allison Sullivan, 6th grader from Cedaredge.

They're holding one more tryout next Monday, March 11 at Canyon View Vineyard Church Chapel, at 7 p.m.

They'll pick three winners.
