Mesa County Unemployment Dips, Following National Rate

MESA COUNTY, Colo.- The national unemployment rate's dip below 8 percent to a 44-month low of 7.8 percent is forecasting positive for Mesa County.

Although Western Colorado's rate is an entire point higher than the national average, Mesa County's latest rate of 8.8 percent in August is down from 9.3 percent in July.

If the pattern continues, the county is on track to see an even larger drop from September.

"When you compare it to the larger picture, it shows that perhaps we are seeing some signs of improvement in the overall economic picture," said Suzie Miller with the Mesa County Workforce Center.
