More Officials Declaring Fraudulent TABOR Claims

MESA COUNTY- Mesa County’s Tax Payer Bill of Rights continues to create a stir.
Another official came forward on Monday, saying there's been some kind of scam.
Previous Mesa County officials believe past Board of Commissioners systematically avoided counting money for revenue purposes by leaving out certain sales taxes, which in the end, shortchanged tax payers.
These officials say these actions border on tax payer fraud, and now, another official is saying it's a clear violation of the Colorado Constitution.
Active county commissioners at the time are denying they know anything about these actions, causing some controversy.
“So one would believe that it’s probably the county administrative staff that decided to change the way in which TABOR calculations were done and excluded half of the county's revenue,” said Ron Gibbs, attorney.
These officials are asking the current commissioners to set policy going forward to include sales tax with tabor revenue.
NewsChannel 5 is told a public hearing on this matter is scheduled during next week's County Commissioner Meeting on Monday, May 20th.
