More Details Released On Mesa County Car Chase

by KREX News Room

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- The Mesa County Sheriff's Office is releasing more information on a traffic stop that led to a car chase, vehicle theft and auto wreck on Wednesday evening.

35-year-old Thomas Krasowsky is behind bars, facing a long list of charges including robbery, motor vehicle theft, vehicular eluding and reckless driving.

The incident began when Krasowsky's van was pulled over for a traffic stop at 25 and F Roads just before 5 p.m. Officials say law enforcement had been tipped off about the man, who had several active warrants -- including one out of New Mexico for assault on a peace officer.

According to an affidavit, when authorities asked Krasowsky to step out the vehicle, he sped off and eventually abandoned the van in the Paradise Valley trailer park.

The suspect fled on foot and a short time later, authorities say he stole a jeep from a woman on Westgate Drive. The jeep was then involved in a wreck at 25 Road and Weslo Avenue, but Krasowsky drove away.

The affidavit says he abandoned the jeep on a canal road just west of 24 3/4 Road and fled on foot. Krasowsky was finally captured by deputies near the Caprock Academy.

Authorities say Krasowsky was transported to St. Mary's Hospital after complaining of neck pain and injuries. Officials say no injuries were found and he was taken to the Mesa County Jail.
