GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.-
A major phase in the construction of Canyon View Medical Plaza is complete.
A crew is building the new facility on G Road in Grand Junction and it's expected to be the future home of one of Colorado’s premier outpatient medical centers.
This completion marks a monumental stage in development, as builders and others celebrate on Friday, by signing their John Hancock’s on the final piece of steel added to the building.
“This symbolizes that this structure is complete and we can move forward to start putting the enclosures around the building,” said Ryan Bonner, project manager.
Crews broke ground on this two-story, 87,000 square-foot building in mid December.
Officials say the winter season was making for somewhat of a challenge in production.
“We were hurt with all of the cold weather in the winter but we made up for it quite well,” said Bonner.
Though, officials add nothing will stop them from completing phase one of the $21 million project by the beginning of 2014.
“We all give our time for the community to make sure we have quality health care at an affordable price,” said Scott Mercier, board chairman of Community Hospital. “This is just the first step in the next phase for locally owned and operated hospital here in town.”
