MONTROSE, Colo. - Along with Delta, Montrose could be close to issuing a halt on marijuana shop applications.

According to the Montrose Daily Press, the city's council members have now proposed a moratorium on accepting applications for retail marijuana shops within city limits.

Council members said they've received much feedback from residents in the community that they are opposed to allowing dispensaries in the area.

The council will conduct a public hearing on Tuesday evening and vote on final approval for the measure. The moratorium would take effect immediately and last for six months.

Tuesday’s meeting will be held in the Montrose City Council chambers at the Elks Civic Building at 107 S. Cascade Ave. at 6 p.m.

When the good people of Colorado voted in A-64 it won by a huge margin, it received more votes that the president elect and Colorado stayed blue for a second election! Now please explain to me how these little right wing republican towns think they can override the the vote of the people! This isn't 1950's Mississippi where you can have dry Counties, it doesn't matter what these little town do, cannabis is now legal in our State, State wide! They can try all they want to keep it under ground but now anybody can grow 6 plants and keep all the harvest weather it's two ounces or 5 pounds, you get to keep whatever your plants produce as long as it is not sold. Why these towns chose to be this way is beyond me, face the facts Western Colorado, cannabis is legal now get used to it! Until I see some acceptance on this issue from Montrose, Delta and Grand Junction I pledge to not shop in any of these towns, they don't deserve my money if they can't except the will of the people!
