Mixed News in July Jobs Report

by KREX News Room
by Associated Press

WASHINGTON- U.S. employers added 163,000 jobs in July, but the unemployment rate rose to 8.3 percent from 8.2 percent in June.

Presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney says the increase in the U.S. unemployment rate is a "hammer blow" to middle class families.

However, July's hiring was the best since February.

The economy has added an average of 151,000 jobs a month this year, roughly the same as last year's pace, but that's not enough to satisfy the 12.8 million Americans who are still unemployed.
