Missing Fremont County Girl Found Safe

9-Year-Old Sidney Peet Missing Since Sunday Morning

Grand Junction- 9-year-old Sidney Peet has been located near Poncha Springs in Chaffee County and is in protective custody with the Chaffee County Sheriff's Office. She is in good health and is believed to have left home voluntarily.

The Fremont County Sheriff's Office said Sidney Peet disappeared at about 8:00 AM from a foster home in Cotopaxi, a small town on the Arkansas river near Salida. The girl told her foster family she was going outside to walk the dog and play, Sheriff's officials said, but she did not return and the dog was found in the back yard.

Sheriff's officials said Sidney may be trying to get to her grandparents' home in Grand Junction.

She is described as a white girl with shoulder-length brown hair who stands about 4 feet 6 inches tall and weighs about 75 pounds. She was wearing red pajamas, a black one-piece snowsuit, pink shoes and a pink baseball hat. the girl was carrying a pink backpack filled with dolls.

The Fremont County Search and Rescue team is searching for the child.

hope they check out the foster home good before they send her back . they are not all that great of a place . i had a 9 yr old nephew who was abused while he was in one in grand jct a few years ago . most of them ony want the money
