GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Two suspects accused of meth distribution appear in Mesa County Court Thursday morning.
Thomas Phoenix, 59, and Jessie Moody, 28, are both charged 4 counts including 2 felonies.
The duo are charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and possession of meth over 2 grams.
Authorities say Phoenix and Moody were traveling along Interstate 70 when officers stopped their vehicle.
The officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and asked to search the car.
Phoenix refused, prompting the officer to call a K-9 unit to investigate.
Following further investigation, officers searched the vehicle and discovered a black velvet bag containing six separate one ounce bags of meth. Street value of the meth is estimated at $13,000.
The pair are both due back in court on October 3.
