Mesa View Elementary Receives Award

GRAND JUNCTION,Colo. On Thursday, teachers and students at Mesa View Elementary school in Grand Junction received an award from the Colorado Development Disabilities
The Dan. B. Davidson Award for Excellence in Inclusion recognizes individuals and agencies that provide ethical leadership to students who have special needs.
Officials at Mesa View Elementary believe students with disabilities can be included in a regular classroom.
Teachers say they have seen a great educational progress in students. Both students and parents feel the same way.
"just think if we were them and we wanted to be included. they're just like us. i don't like how people, some people treat them different. they're just like us,” said Chloe Lee, student.
"The inclusion program, he see's his buddies at mesa view and they help him with day to day challenges,” said Jeramy Casteelo, parent.
Organizers say they have seen a significant increase in students' scores since the program started.
