GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Thousands showed up for the annual Trick or Treat Street event at the Mesa Mall Wednesday Night.

The Mesa Mall has been hosting the event for over 20 years.

From 5-7 p.m., kids and parents in costumes showed up to the mall for music, candy and fun in a safe environment.

This year more than 60 stores participated in handing out candy across the mall.

Target, Herberger's, J.C. Penney, Cabela's and Sears all joined in on the fun.

First-timer Amy Mulfrod said, "We've just never tried it before and heard good things about it, so we decided to come out and give it a try. The kids are really liking it."

All sorts of candy was given out by store employees. Sammantha Gale, the older sister of two trick -or-treaters, said, "We've gotten some Snickers, Reese's and 3 Musketeers."

Mall officials say the event provides a safe environment for kids to come out and trick or treat with their families.
