GRAND JUNCTION, Colo- The Mesa Land Trust is looking for public input on a proposal to develop Monument Road.

The proposal includes an off road bike pat from downtown Grand Junction to the east entrance of the Colorado National Monument.

They are also proposing safe crossings along the roadway with the potential for connecting neighborhoods, schools and recreation by the bike path.

On top of designing a website with the proposed developments, Mesa Land Trust is hosting 3 public meetings to gather more information. The meetings will be catered towards specific audiences.

The first meeting is Tuesday night from 6 - 8 p.m. at Redlands Middle School. This is for Glade Park residents, Monument Road landowners and Redlands area residents.

The second meeting is Wednesday afternoon from 12 - 2 p.m. at the Whitman Building located on the corner of 4th Street and Ute Avenue. This is for the general public, local businesses and downtown vendors.

The third and final meeting will again be held at Redlands Middle School on Wednesday from 6 - 8 p.m. This meeting is for recreationists.

If this would get the bicycles off Monument Road I would support it. But it will not do that. In fact it will result in more bicycles on monument road.

Is "off road" path mean not on side of Monument road? If so I say ok, if not I say no!! There is a bike lane already on both sides of Monument road.
