Mesa Developmental Services Rebranding

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Mesa Developmental Services, is changing their name to be more recognizable.

After 46 years with the acronym, MDS, the committee has decided to go with 'Strive, People Supporting People.'

Officials say they decided to change the name because many people thought MDS was involved with oil and gas company's or another agency.

"We have found over the years there's a lot of confusion with people trying to identify who we are and what we do. Often times people think we are a land development company, a gas service company or even part of Mesa County government. So, this way we're able to take what we do and get a new energy, opportunity and path for us, as we try to inform and educate the public," said Joe Warner, vice president.

Officials say it's not an easy task changing the name to fit the organization.

They say they'll help the public adapt to this change by advertising the new name and running a commercial.
