MESA COUNTY, Colo.- Mesa County is looking to update its fairgrounds, but officials want residents' input first.

On Wednesday night, county officials released their new business analysis for the 93-acre fairgrounds.

Based on new research, developments like a new, 25,000-square foot exposition hall, as well as a new multi-use facility with 5,000 fixed seats, could be financially viable for the area.

The report also looked into expanding certain areas, like the existing equestrian and livestock facilities, as well as the existing BMX bike track.

"This business analysis takes some of these ideas we heard from the community in the last few years and finds out which options are likely to succeed from a financial perspective," explained Jessica Peterson, the spokesperson for Mesa County.

The business study also shows that the new improvements would bring an additional $12 to $14 million into the area's economy each year, while also creating close to 200 jobs.

To find out when the next round of open houses is scheduled, you can call the fairgrounds at 970-255-7107 or email fairgrounds@mesacounty.us.

After further input is received, county officials will decide if they should go forward with the upgrades or not.
