GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Many residents attended a rodeo this weekend to support a local nonprofit.

The Mesa County Sheriff's Posse continued nearly a half century of service to the Grand Valley by holding an annual rodeo fundraiser.

The rodeo at the Mesa County Fairgrounds is a way to enjoy a Western Slope tradition, while raising up to $10,000 for the posse.

"I think everyone should try to support those people in the community, especially the Sheriff's Posse. Those people who try really hard to protect our community, from firefighters and various people
like that, is important. It's fun to support those kinds of things," said Ramona Cwalinski, a local supporter.

The group has donated more than $250,000 to community organizations, scholarships and youth groups such as 4-H, FFA and Partners over the past 50 years.
