GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Mesa County Sheriff's Posse are out and about standing side by side to The Salvation Army bell ringers outside City Market to gather food for the holidays.

From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.the Posse was helping gather food from residents outside City Market on Rood and First Street.

They accept any non perishable food items along with turkeys and hams.

"We just greet them, say hello and try to give them a smile. They know what we are doing because we've been doing it for years," said George Decker, volunteer with the Mesa County Sheriff's Posse.

They say they received about 32,000 pounds of food last year, and hope to raise that much this year.

They will be at the Clifton City Market location next Saturday.
