GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- The Mesa County Central Library location in downtown Grand Junction is getting ready to move, but it won't be in that location permanently.

To make way for renovation and modernizing the current library, the library downtown will move to the former Ashely Furniture building at First Street and Gunnison Avenue.

They plan to have the new renovated building off Fifth Street and Grand Avenue ready by spring 2013.

Officials say they will be adding more space, which has been requested by many patrons. "Kind of a new fiction adult reading space in that area as well as a large multipurpose room," said Bob Kretschman, spokesperson for Mesa County Libraries.

From July 30 to August 3, the library will be open from noon to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday, from noon to 6:00 p.m. It will be closed August 4-12, 2012.

The new location will open August 13th at the former Ashley Furniture building. Hours will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
