Mesa County Libraries Set Up ‘Giving Trees’

MESA COUNTY, Colo.- Mesa County Libraries are decorating their holiday trees in a unique way this holiday season, all to help out local residents.

The library system and the Grand Valley Catholic Outreach are working together by garnishing their "giving trees" with gift requests from underprivileged residents.

They’re asking those looking to reach out a hand, to choose a receipt off the tree and donate a present this year.

“They’re not expensive gifts,” said Bob Kretschman of Mesa County Libraries. “There's kids asking for toys, teenagers and a few adults asking for basic clothing.”

The “giving trees” can be found at the Mesa County Central Library in Grand Junction, as well as library branches in Clifton, De Beque, Fruita and Palisade.

Library officials are asking those who would like to participate to bring the gift to the library before Dec. 13.
