Mesa County Fire Authorities Seeking Public Input

by KREX News Room

MESA COUNTY, Colo.- Mesa County fire officials want to know what community members think of the fire response in and around each fire district's neighborhood.

The Mesa County Fire Chiefs Association is spearheading a fire services study, which also includes a community-wide survey. “The survey really is meant to gauge what [people] know about the fire service in the county; what types of services do we provide that you know of? And then, how could we do things better?” said Ken Watkins, Grand Junction Fire Department chief .

The results of the study will be released Sept. 18, after which the county fire district's stakeholder group will then decide the next steps to implement changes.

A series of community meetings will also be held to gather public feedback.
