MONTROSE, Colo. - Despite the cold weather, the Montrose Downtown Development Authority pulled out all the stops Friday to bring some holiday merriment downtown.

The "Merriment on Main" events got started Friday afternoon with free movie screenings, scavenger hunts, elf costume contests, hayrides and more before the downtown merchants helped bring the party indoors.

"All of us put in a lot of work to make all these things happen and to have these events is great," said Adam Duncan of A+Y Design Gallery, "To see people take advantage is fantastic and we're thrilled every time we get a few more people or a couple of people that walk in this door that haven't been in here before."

"It's a great benefit for our community when people shop locally and support our locally owned small businesses, those dollars stay in our community and it supports the causes that are near and dear to our community," said Scott Shine, Executive Director of the Montrose Downtown Development Authority.

During the evening events, merchants offered deals on local products as well as live music, food and drink specials and artist demonstrations.
