Men Fined for More Than $5,500 for Poaching in Western Colorado

MONTROSE, Colo.- Several men from Norwood and Texas are fined more than $5,500 for poaching two mule deer bucks.

According to Colorado Parks and Wildlife, the poaching occurred in a remote area of western San Miguel County on Dec. 6.

A local resident noticed three men behaving suspiciously and reported the activity to Colorado Parks and Wildlife.

After further investigation Nathan Wilson, 30, of Norwood, and 65 year old Welden Kavecki, 65, of Throckmorton, Texas were both charged with hunting out of season, unlawful take of wildlife and waste of game meat.

Wilson and Kavecki may also lose their hunting privileges for many years.

Timothy Tayler, 69, of Euless, Texas was charged with being complicit in unlawful take.

Please do not poach the deer. They will be our main source of food after the economy implodes in the 3rd quarter of 2014. Thanks so much.
