SNOWMASS VILLAGE, Colo. - A memorial for the Snowmass ski patroller who died following an avalanche was held Saturday at the resort.

People attending the memorial of 49-year-old Patricia Hileman wore pink and brought their best stories of her. Hileman was the first person to die in an avalanche this season in Colorado.

Hileman died Dec. 30 while skiing alone in a closed area. The 26-year-veteran was swept over a cliff after triggering a small avalanche.

The Colorado Avalanche Information Center concluded that she triggered the avalanche by skiing across the top boundary of a previous avalanche.

That avalanche was triggered by explosives on Dec. 27, three days before.
