DELTA, Colo.- McDonald's restaurants around the country are making an effort to get rid of the idea of fast, greasy foods and focus on more nutritional items.

In Delta, one McDonald's is celebrating the change by holding a grand reopening to show off a remodeled restaurant and healthier menu.

"Right now we're doing, it's called, Favorites Under 400 Calories, so we're just really trying to let people know that there's different options available ... you can tailor it to meet any nutritional guidelines that you want," said Debbie Long-Shea, owner of the Delta McDonald's.

The grand reopening event in Delta starts Sept. 8 at 9 a.m. with a 5K Fun Run. Registration starts at 8 a.m.

Ronald McDonald will visit with kids and families at 11 a.m. and there will be several deals, prizes and drawings throughout the day, including one for 10 free backpacks that are filled with school supplies.
