Marines Bring Toys to Students

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Several Pear Park Elementary School students had a special visit Wednesday afternoon from the U.S. Marines along with an early holiday treat.

The Marines handed out gifts to dozens of students. The gifts were anonymously donated and addressed directly to each child.

This is the fifth year Pear Park Elementary has held this event for students in need to help make the holidays special when times may be tough for them.

"It's something that we hold dear to ourselves to be able to help them grow with the same things that we had when we were kids and then kind of know what the Marine Corps is and what we stand for," said Sgt. Brian Scoggins.

After handing out presents the Marines stayed to chat with students and answer questions about what it's like to be a Marine.
