Marijuana Advocates File Lawsuit Against State Panel

by KREX News Room
by Associated Press

DENVER- Supporters of a measure that would legalize marijuana in Colorado are taking legal action against a state panel they say edited their measure in a voter guide.

The Campaign to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol says it has filed a lawsuit in Denver District Court after a state panel edited some of the comments, saying they could cause legal problems.

The panel added a disclaimer last week saying legalizing marijuana wouldn't automatically produce a windfall from a new tax on marijuana because legislators would have to refer it to voters for approval.

Lawmakers also struck some of the suggested benefits from legalizing marijuana that supporters wanted voters to read.

The panel cannot change ballot language already approved, but they can change how proposals are described to voters.

I believe driving under the influence of alcohol should be a felony too.

Is driving under the influence of alcohol a felony? Only if you kill someone and then maybe? Wise up and get some common sense!

Ok legalize it for use in your own home, but If you drive under the influence of it, make it a automatic felony. If you use it in public make it a misdemeanor.

The federal prohibition of cannabis as a schedule I controlled substance is not just erroneous, but it is unconstitutional. Cannabis has proven to be an effective treatment for many conditions that pharmaceuticals had little or no beneficial value and the pharmaceuticals also had many damaging side effects.
