GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Although one man lost his battle with ALS, his dream to "pay it forward" was fulfilled on Tuesday.

Before he passed away, Dan Keenan and his family created the Keenan Van Mobility Fund. They purchased a wheelchair accessible van with the intention to pass it on to another person with ALS down the line.

On Tuesday, a man from Paonia received the gift, purchasing the van for just $1.

Greg Podgorny, the van recipient, said, "Just in Dan's memory it's just a great honor to be handed down, to get the van. In his spirit, it was just a pleasure and honor to know Dan."

Dan's older brother Tom said, "This is what he wanted right from the start and I know he' here watching it."

The Keenan Van Mobility Fund is $3,000 away from its goal of about $43,000.

The community can still donate, money raised will also be used to maintain the van in the future.
