DURANGO, Colo. (AP) - A man who blew his fingers off with a homemade bomb in southwestern Colorado is facing explosives charges.

The Durango Herald reports a grand jury has indicted 58-year-old Douglas Markey on charges related to transporting explosives. The details of the indictment have not been released.

Authorities say Markey was injured while detonating the explosive in a canyon near Rico on July 8, 2011. Colorado Highway 145 was closed for several hours after the explosion while the Farmington, N.M., bomb squad removed the device.

More explosive devices were found in Markey's vehicle and at a home in Rico.
