Man Gets 7 Years For Killing Woman Walking Dog

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- The 21-year-old man who authorities say killed a woman after striking her with his vehicle, admits to the crime.

Officials say Joseph Weixel plead guilty to vehicular homicide, reckless driving, reckless endangerment and a DWAI.

Weixel will serve seven years in Community Corrections, but will get 446 days credit for being in custody.

He will remain in custody until a bed opens up in Community Corrections.

NewsChannel 5 was told that Weixel will have a substance abuse evaluation and treatment.

Officials say restitution remains open.
