BRECKENRIDGE, Colo.- A 20-year-old man involved in a crash that killed a pedestrian at a Keystone crosswalk has been sentenced to six years with a community corrections program.

The Summit Daily News reports Judge Mark Thompson sentenced Wesley Wilson on Friday for the crash that killed 33-year-old Mircea Basaram, of Romania, on Saint Patrick's Day.

Wilson, who previously pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide, was found to be under the influence of drugs and alcohol at the time of the crash.

Community corrections is a program under the umbrella of the Department of Corrections that restricts freedom but does not put offenders in jail.

Thompson said, "There is a need for punishment, but there is also a need for restoration."
