Grand Junction Resident Drowns in Colorado River
PALISADE, Colo.- We’re learning more about the tragic incident that resulted in a 45-year-old man losing his life on Saturday on the Colorado River. Just before 3:20 p.m. authorities were dispatched to the 3,900 block of River Road in Palisade. Authorities say Robert Draper was rafting the river with several friends, when he went under water for an unknown amount of time. Witnesses tried to resuscitate Draper, as did emergency personnel when they reached the scene. Unfortunately efforts to save the Grand Junction resident were unsuccessful. Officials say the death was caused by drowning and is being ruled as accidental.
