DENVER- A 24-year-old man has been charged in a fatal shooting outside a nightclub near downtown Denver.

The Denver Post reports that Marvin Rosario-Lopez faces charges of first-degree murder after deliberation and first-degree murder with extreme indifference stemming from the death of 47-year-old Ronald Smith early last Sunday.

Authorities say the shooting occurred on a street where a number of people where exiting bars and restaurants.

They say Smith had been at the club with his wife to watch his youngest son, rapper Andrew Smith, perform.

Police say he was shot after confronting a man he believed smashed a beer bottle onto his older son's head.
