CENTENNIAL, Colo.- As the victims and families of those affected by Friday's mass shooting in Aurora continue to cope, the man believed to be at the center of it all, 24-year-old James Eagan Holmes, made his first court appearance Monday.

The district attorney who will be prosecuting the case says she is considering seeking the death penalty.

Authorities say James Holmes is responsible
for killing 12 people and injuring 58 others after opening fire during a midnight showing of "The Dark Knight Rises" at the Century 16 movie
theater in Aurora.

During Monday's hearing Holmes said nothing, and displayed little emotion, as his lawyer did all the talking for him.

Some of the victims' families were present in the courtroom.

Prosecutors have 60 days to decide whether or not they'll seek the death penalty.

Holmes' father traveled to Colorado to support his son.

i can't imagine there's not enough evidence to go ahead with the death penalty. crazy or not, he knew what he was doing was wrong. and I agree with andrew, this should be about the victims, not the shooter, but the media just doesn't report that way.

We don't want to see the picture of the shooter only pictures of the victims! AND we don't want to read his name either!!! Duh!
