Man Accused of Sexual on a Child Sentenced

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- A Mesa County man accused of sexual assault on a child is sentenced in court Monday morning.
Charles Bourbeau was sentenced to an indeterminate probation sentence of 17 years to life. Along with the probation sentence, Bourbeau will serve 3 years in community corrections.
During probation he will be under sex offender intensive supervision, be subject to random drug/alcohol screenings, undergo random polygraph tests and will be required to complete a sex offender rehabilitation course.
Bourbeau was accused and admitted to sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl multiple times.
Through a plea agreement, Bourbeau pleaded guilty to one count of sexual assault on a child. Before the agreement, he was facing 45 counts including sexual assault on a child, sexual assault on a child in a position of trust and sexual assault on a child with a pattern of abuse.
Bourbeau was taken into custody at the end of the hearing until a bed is freed up at community correction.
He was also ordered to repay $2,000 in victim compensation fees, to go toward the victim's counseling services.
