GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - A man pleaded guilty Friday after being accused of attacking several of his neighbors using a knife and a hammer.

Alejandro Olvera, 25, pleaded guilty to two charges of second degree assault with all other charges being dropped.

Authorities say during a Fourth of July celebration last year, a fight broke out and several people were left injured.

Five people were taken to the hospital, one of the victims was reportedly hit in the head with a hammer, the rest had several stab wounds.

In the original arrest affidavit, witnesses claim Olvera told them he served in the army and the sound of fireworks was giving him flashbacks of combat.

Olvera has told authorities that he "blacked out" during the fight.

A sentencing hearing is now set for November 15.
