Local School Teaches Students Dedication through ROAR Rally

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- A large assembly dedicated to celebrating student success drew in some special guests at Lincoln Orchard Mesa Elementary on Friday.

The players from the Mesa State Women's Basketball team stopped by to teach the kids at the school, how to be focused.

The school's ROAR Rally is intended to send powerful messages to students about how important it is to work hard in school and to do your best.

“Rather than always being tough on kids, criticizing them, our goal is to catch them doing things right and showing them what positive looks like,” said Stacey Morton-Cohen, fourth grade teacher Lincoln Orchard Mesa Elementary. “We want to show them what making great academic options look like.”

The school has been hosting this rally for several years now.

ROAR is the motto of the school and it stands for Respect, On task, Always safe and Responsibility.
