Gun Shop Owner Reacts to Pres. Obama's Gun Control Proposals

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - President Obama came out Wednesday with new gun control proposals; two of the 23 that were unveiled have caused quite a bit of controversy.

Obama proposed to ban military-style assault weapons and ammunition magazines with more than 10 rounds.

Gun sales are surging across America, especially for assault weapons, and NewsChannel 5 wanted to get reaction from local gun shop owners on what they thought regarding the new proposals and current growth in sales.

"No, it's not going to make a difference for reducing violence for sure. Everything is still going to be easily available. To say that reducing magazine limitations would stop spree killings, that's like suggesting at Sandy Hook, that six-year-olds could have stopped the shooter as he was changing magazines; it's simply not possible," said James Colby, owner of Sniper Shoot.

The Senate Judiciary Committee says the first hearing on gun control proposals will be Wednesday, Jan. 30.

Arnold's new movie, The last stand would be flat if they used semi auto weapons to simulate killing of each other.
