Local Documentary Criticizes Colorado School Board Politics

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Local residents packed the Mesa Theater Monday evening to view a controversial documentary about Colorado School Board politics.
"The Reformers" investigates education reform policies put into place by the Douglas County School Board.
Producer and director of the film, Brian Malone, investigates how reform change has become more about political lobbying and less about providing children with a good education.
"I think the facts speak for themselves which is why it is difficult for those who are for reform to poke holes in this film," said Malone.
Some local citizens are concerned that Mesa County school boards could be heading in the same direction.
Malone is a five-time Emmy Award winner and has produced over a dozen nationally recognized documentaries.
The film has been screened statewide to Colorado residents for free.
