GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Valentine’s Day is a day to celebrate with your loved ones, as flower shops are busy passing out roses and boxes of chocolates go flying off the shelf.

According to officials, Americans are expected to send nearly 150 million Valentine’s Day cards to their loved ones this year. It's the second biggest day for cards, topped only by Christmas.

However here in the Grand Valley, some are getting a little more creative on this romantic day.

“We sign to everyone,” said Dave Woodward, member of the Bookcliff Barbershop Chorus.

Whether you live in Palisade or Mack, the Bookcliff Barbershop Chorus will deliver a Valentine treat to anyone across the Grand Valley.

“The chorus has been doing Singing Valentines for about 25 years,” said Woodward. “We sing to kids in schools, teachers, and sing in doctor’s office like we are today.”

Woodward’s quartet is known as Spare Parts, and they have been performing for over 10 years.

“I was very surprised,” said Dr. Michael Dohm, resident who received a singing Valentine. “I thought I was helping a patient back to the room and it was quite the surprise.”

Although Dr. Dohm says it has been one of this best Valentines Day gifts he’s ever received, others Spare Parts sang to in the past, have taken a different approach to the surprise.

“We actually had to drag a guy out from underneath a car one time that he was working on because he was so embarrassed,” said Woodward.

But with not only a card and rose in hand, but also Enstrom toffee, who couldn't be happy to see and hear these guys on the most romantic day of the year?

There will be a total of four quartets out on Thursday. These valentines will cost you only $45 and a portion of the proceeds go right towards our local school music programs.

Call 255-9992 because they still have some openings available on Valentine’s Day.
