Local Cause Raising Funds to Keep Kids Safe

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- With School District 51's recent bus cuts, some students are finding themselves getting to school in a new way, and one Grand Valley organization wants to keep them safe as they do so.
Officials from HOPE of the Grand Valley say as more students bike and skateboard to school, they want to make sure they’re riding safely.
However, since nearly 4,800 local elementary students come from a low income family, the organization hopes to provide support by donating helmets for free.
“Any child that gets hurt, everybody suffers,” said Vicki McGee, founder of HOPE of the Grand Valley. “We're about doing what we can, and though a helmet isn't that much, its still something to be able to help kids and keep kids safe.”
If you would like to give to the cause, you can mail funds to 634 Main Street #4 in Grand Junction or go online to their website at hopeunlimited.us.
