Local Bank Gives Paycheck Loans to Furloughed Workers
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. A local bank is promising paychecks for workers affected by the government shutdown but Congress may be already in the works to fix the problem. Alpine Bank says it has set aside $13 million to loan furloughed workers the one paycheck they've missed so far, but Congress has confirmed that legislation to pay back furloughed workers will be voted on tomorrow. Alpine Bank has provided this offer before during a government shutdown in 1995. They say the loans are interest free, and must be paid back when the shutdown ends.
