Grand Junction, Colo.- Grand Junction Police Department officials gathered Wednesday afternoon to celebrate their annual National Telecommunicator Week Awards Ceremony.
911 dispatchers were nominated by their fellow co-workers for their work in 2012.
Dispatcher of the year winner, Sarah Arrants, was humbled that her co-workers found her deserving of the award.
"It means a lot," said Arrants. "It's truly humbling that my co-workers would think that much of me to nominate me for the award, and it's very special. I love my job."
Arrants has worked as a dispatcher for four years now, and is one of among about 30 other dispatchers working for the department.
Awards were also handed out to the Trainer of the Year and the Supervisor of the Year
National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week was created back in 1981 to honor and thank those who dedicate their lives to serving the public.
The week is a part of 911 Education Month, celebrated every April.
