Lincoln Park to Receive Grant

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- It's been almost four months since the renovations at the Lincoln Park Tower were finished, but officials from the stadium will spend years paying for the project.

However, at a city council meeting Wednesday night, they’re expected to get a nice chunk of change for it.

The $50,000 grant will come from the Boettcher Foundation, which is an organization that donates funds that stay strictly in Colorado.

“The entire project was $8.3 million, and we bonded $7.3 million with the city's help,” said Jamie Hamilton, CEO of JUCO.

The remaining balance was pledged to be paid for by Grand Junction Baseball Inc., and Hamilton says the group has been hard at work raising the funds.

“This facility is such a great facility for the entire community,” said Hamilton. “We feel very comfortable that we can take care of the commitment.”

Since the completion of Lincoln Park’s renovations, folks from around the valley have been taking advantage of everything the venue has to offer, which is why the Boettcher Foundation is donating the funds.

The city is set to accept the grant during Wednesday’s meeting, which is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
